Jorge Guzman
Painter
orge Alberto Guzman was
born in El Salvador.
His academic preparation took place in
his native El Salvador. He Graduated
from The National School of Commerce
(ENCO) and pursued university studies
in accounting and public auditing in the
University José Simeon Cañas.
He defines himself as a self-taught artist.
He uses the oil technique and acrylic,
Chinese ink and watercolor; in addition,
He does digital art and makes sculptures.
In May 2000, Guzman moved to New
York, State that he has adopted as a
permanent residence.
His sources of inspiration are the envi-
ronment that surrounds him, personal
experiences and family, his ideals and the
vision to create a message inviting others
to reflection to create a better world for
present and future generations.
The need to find the “I artist”, is part of
his constant anxiety to accomplish some-
thing different that, reflected in the work
of origin, emanates a characteristic that
embodies the artist. Challenge brings him
to experiment with texture, knife work,
mixed media, color, funds, and materials.
On the artistic movements and styles,
Guzman admires the Renaissance,
Baroque, Impressionism, Post Impression-
ism, Surrealism, Neo Impressionism, and
Abstract Expressionism
Some Latin artists he admires are Peter
Matheu, Jose Mejia Vides, Camilo Min-
ero, Armando Solis of El Salvador, Hon-
duras and Carlos Garay, of the muralists
Diego Rivera and Orozco of Mexico.
His first exhibition was in 1998 in El
Salvador. This date marks the beginning
of a 14-year career to date creating,
painting and exhibiting his art in Long
Island, Manhattan and in other States like
New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode
Island. Internationally he had exhibited in
Colombia.
He has created more than 300 pieces of
art over 12 years in various styles and
techniques with which he has participated
in 8 solo exhibitions and 103 group
exhibitions of which 24 are Boston, Mas-
sachusetts and Rhode Island, 79 in Long
Island and Manhattan.

• President and Founding Director of
Ikarus Gallery Cultural Program, Inc.

Boston Massachusetts.
• Long Beach Art League.
• Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
America Long Island
As an editor, he edited and illustrated
the book “Dark Nostalgia in Solitude” of
Salvadoran poet Santiago Miranda and
is currently working on publishing his
own book.
As journalist, he serves as director and
editor of the digital newspapers “Ikarus
News” and Salvadoran-Long Island
Forum.
