Gloria Elena Garcia
Gloria Elena Garcia was born on March 30, 1980 in the
city of Armenia, the coffee center of Colombia.
She is a professional dancer at heart and Civil Engineer
by profession; she is being dancing for the last 14 years
Colombian folklore dance and contemporary dance.
In 1999, she was elected Miss Bambuco National – this is
a prestigious contest in Colombia where the typical folk-
lore of the city of Huila is presented to all the regions of
Colombia, showing how the native dances can unite com-
munities and identify a people.
In 2003, she moved to Bogotá to work with the Govern-
ment, to support the poorest communities in the country
through the construction of schools and colleges with re-
sources from international cooperation, and monitoring
some road projects in the country. Through engineering,
she has an intimate knowledge of her native Colombia,
and she discovered unimaginable places, hidden popula-
tions and wonderful people.
She managed to realize her long dream of getting her
bachelor degree at Rosario University, where she stud-
ied Civil Engineer, specializing in Project Management
Infrastructure, with standing academic excellence, out-
standing her classmates. She obtained in her graduation
a Diploma of Excellence.
In July 7, 2007, she married the singer and composer
Juan Pablo Pelaez. They had managed to build a strong
relationship, now raising their first one-year-old daugh-
ter and their dog Joshua.
