FROM THE EDITOR
eauty is an integral part of our lives. For
ages, philosophers have been wondering
how to define beauty and ugliness. Is beauty
in the eye of the beholder? How does the
ancient concept of beauty compare to con-
cepts of beauty in contemporary aesthet-
ics and society? What is the role of beauty
in our images/perceptions of bodies, and
how does this motivate critical feminist the-
ories of beauty?
Until the 18th century, beauty was the most
important aspect of aesthetics. Socrates
thought you felt pleasure from objects that
were intrinsically beautiful. He found pleas-
ure in simple geometric shapes, single colors,
and musical notes. Plato, however, believed that
beauty was an ingredient property within things.
Relative beauty exists only in comparison to ugly
things. Plato thought that beauty was defined by a
property of the whole object.
As described in Plato’s Philebus, the measure of
beauty was structured and related to intelligence. Beauty is symmetry and exact-
ness. Aristotle believed that there was no absolute beauty, but that it was based on
perception.
In a special way, in this issue of SEXY MAGAZINE X2, philosophy and beauty
comes together in one word as we present our cover model. Po Ro delight us with
an exquisite art production made from the lens of the photographer Lucy Lencinas,
also, she will delight our intellect in an interview in which she shows that she does
not rely on her beauty to be smart.
Starting from that intellect, we open a new column which will overflow sensuality
and information called “Empowering Erotica”. It goes hand to hand to the new
section for our readers called “Caitlin’s Corner”. Caitlin’s Corner is a column in
which topics regarding sex are answered in an empowering, playful and informa-
tive way. If you have any questions to ask Caitlin do not hesitate to send in your
questions to contact@sexyx2.com and she will gladly shed some light on the issue.
The exclusive recipes from our Chef John Cucaz will have its own informative
column to communicate with our readers. You can submit any questions to the
chef about special dishes, desserts and aphrodisiac drinks, he will answer your
questions if you sending an email to contact@sexyx2.com
This new issue of SEXY X2 is loaded with sensuality, new columnists, and inter-
esting articles and as always, the humor from our cartoonist Adriel Zarate.
Enjoy,
B
