except for the four years her fam-
ily spent in Woodstock, New York.
Back in Brooklyn Heights, she
attended St. Ann’s school. Her fa-
ther was in the garment industry,
and a close friend of the family
was an advertising executive.

Halle Berry was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to an African-Amer-
ican father, Jerome Berry, a former hospital attendant, and a
European-American mother, Judith (Hawkins) Berry, a retired
psychiatric nurse. Halle has an older sister named Heidi Berry.
Halle first came into the spotlight at seventeen years when she
won the Miss Teen All-American Pageant.

Sandra Bullock was born in a Virginia
suburb of Washington, DC, to an Amer-
ican voice teacher father and a Ger-
man opera singer mother. She grew
up on the road with her parents and
younger sister. She often performed in
the children’s chorus of whatever pro-
duction her mother was in. That singing
talent later came in handy for her role
as an aspiring country singer in The
Thing Called Love.
Demi Moore
Actress, Ghost
Demi Moore was born Demetria Gene Guynes on Novem-
ber 11, 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico. Her father, Charles
Harmon, left her mother, Virginia, before Demi was born.
Her stepfather, Danny Guynes, did not add much stability
to her life, either. He frequently changed jobs and made
the family move a total of 40 times.
