Anika
Zhadanova
igmund Freud defi-
nitely has marked all OF US when
we think about a psychologist trying
to unravel the mysteries of the psy-
che of a patient.
In any case we could say that a pipe,
a beard and gray hair is the arche-
typal figure of psychoanalyst. To
this, we have to add a couch, a sober
ambient, a paint and the picture
would be complete.
When we see the perfect curves in
Anika’s body, crushing her sensual-
ity, and a professional model, the
last thing we imagine is to be lying
on the couch while she listens as a
psychologist to our deepest traumas.
I do not know if you’re an excel-
lent psychologist model, or a model
that holds incredible psychology
career. What do you think is first
in your life? How would you define
yourself?
I try not to define myself by my
career or my body. Psychology is a
fascinating field and has a great po-
tential to help people. I love studying
psychology. I love getting to know
different people, growing to under-
stand them and finding ways to make
their life more satisfying. I believe
that mental illness should not inhibit
people from happiness. Even those
with the most chronic cases can find
joy and meaning in their lives. I hope
to help them do so.
As for modelling, it’s fun. It’s a
form of art that I love participating
in. As a model, I see myself as an
artist as well as a muse. In fact, I
love many forms of art. In addition
to modelling, I love to dance, act and
choreograph. I like music and any
kind of visual art. There’s nothing
like spending a day at the museum
to admire people’s talents and be
inspired. Therefore, I define myself
as an artistic person who is curious
about the human mind and the quest
for happiness.
What led you to the world of mod-
eling?
I actually fell into it quite naturally. I
had a few friends in film while I was
in college. Since I ran a collabora-
tive arts group, several friends had
asked me to act in their student films.
At one point, a film friend of mine
invited me to do a beach photoshoot
with a couple other dancers. It was
fun and the photos turned out great.
I posted some of the on facebook to
show my friends, and then I got a
message from another photographer,
who just finished his degree at the
Fashion Institute. He liked my look
and wanted me to do an athletic
shoot with him. Naturally, I was flat-
tered and gladly agreed.
Using the photos from my beach
shoot, my athletic shoot and a car
show I did a few years back with a
friend, I collected the best shots and
created a Model Mayhem account.
Then the requests started pouring
in. Photographers from all over the
NYC area wanted to shoot with me.
After I developed a diverse portfolio,
I started charging for my modeling
work. Of course, it’s hard in this
economy, but it’s always nice to have
a supplementary income. Since I am
