MAGAZINE - JULY 2013
Do you have a favorite genre, why?
Yes, I do. I think I mentioned it briefly
earlier; I love poetry. Spoken-word and
freestyle are my top choices though. I
believe poetry is the language of the soul.
It allows you to express your feelings, at
least for me it does. I love writing poetry.
I really feel like myself when I can just
concentrate on a piece, or several. It is
this feeling of brilliant madness that takes
over and you just have all this energy and
so many emotions. Poetry moves me. Def
Jam poetry is probably the best thing I
have ever heard.
Who is your favorite author?
I draw many inspiration and delivery
techniques from poets like Shihan (‘Love
Like’ is an amazing piece by Shihan.)
Nicole Blackman is another inspiration.
I started reading her when I was about
14 or 15 years old and I just fell in love.
Her piece ‘Dark Daughter’ is brilliant in
capturing the angst young girls tend to feel
at that age towards their mothers, and yes
I speak from personal experience. I was
always a little misunderstood as a kid, (she
laughs) Always running around causing
havoc and getting to know myself while
giving no apologies.
Your face has an exotic beauty. Who are
your ancestors?
I am Kryptonian by heart! Just kidding!
My mother is from Ecuador and I believe
my biological father is from Venezuela.
I myself was born and raised in Cuenca,
Ecuador until the age of nine. I still have
family living over there and it has been so
long since I have been able to visit. I don’t
usually give away my Venezuelan side
though, I identify more with the Ecuado-
rian side of me because that’s what I was
exposed to from the time I was born. I
have never been to Venezuela; it is on my
bucket list.
As good Latin girl, you certainly enjoy-
ing the different seasons of the meals.
Do you think that the food can be an
aphrodisiac, so that you can transform
the “kitty” inside you into a fierce lion?
Oh man, you have found my weak point!
I love food. All kinds of food. I do believe
food can be an aphrodisiac. From prepara-
tion to consumption, it is all foreplay to
me…in the right circumstances of course.
Picture this, sun setting, tall windows
letting soft light in, candles on the table
and lasagna in the oven followed by some
strawberry cheesecake and White Zin-
fandel; I will melt right along with the
cheese! I am a lover of good wine paired
up with the right dish; it can be intoxi-
catingly seductive. I mean you’re in the
kitchen so you’ve got all this heat going
and you’re getting your hands dirty, what
more can you ask for as far as getting the
mood going? I am a huge fan of picnics.
What should a meal contain with these
characteristics?
At the very least, a romantic dinner should
have candles and great wine. I am not
sure if you can tell yet, but I really love
wine. Even if the evening consists of just
deserts, or bocaditos it must be candle-lit
and wine friendly. I had a sunset, candle-
lit picnic at the beach once with an ex-
girlfriend of mine. We had jumbo shrimp
and champagne, or white wine I forget
(it was long ago) but it was beautiful and
extremely romantic. We stayed until the
stars came out, just laying in the sand and
talking, it is nice to reminisce.
If you were to choose two characteris-
tics in a man than you think he is the
sexiest, what would be the first one,
which one the second one, and why?
Well, how do I even begin to answer!
I think intelligence is a huge turn on. I
love a well-rounded person, a jack of all
trades like myself. I am a talker and I love
learning new things, so if a person can
broaden my mental spectrum that is huge
to me. The second one I would have to say
humility. There is nothing more unattrac-
tive than a person who has an overpower-
ing ego. I love when someone can stay
humble, grounded, and thankful. I would
say those two factors really come into play
for me when deciding to take someone
seriously. I really dislike arrogance.
Now tell us the two of the sexiest part of
a man, where you look will instinctively.
I believe facial features like a strong jaw
line, or high cheekbones, or dimples are
what I look at first. I do love a pretty face,
and I am guilty for that. Eyes specially
make my heart melt. Soft eyes, dimples
and a contagious smile I am drawn to like
a moth to the light. This might sound a
little weird, but posture. I love a man who
can stand strong. These days it is all about
“swag” and sagging you pants; I am just
not into it. To me, good posture is a pre-
cursor to how you carry yourself. As far as
body language goes, good posture exudes
confidence.
And what you think is the sexiest part
of the woman’s body?
Women? Well they are just delightful crea-
tures. I think everything about a woman is
beautiful, but I am the owner of a pair of
eyes that tend to wander off to take a peek
at a cute derriere as a beautiful woman
walks by. Curves are beautiful. I also like
when a woman has natural beauty. Natural
hair, nails, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc, is
extremely attractive. Confidence is huge
in my opinion. Being comfortable in your
own skin is sexy on so many different
levels.
If a man wants to conquer your heart,
what should he do? Which is your
weakness?
I am a huge tomboy, but if a guy can treat
me like a lady at the appropriate moments,
that always means a lot to me. If someone
can cook or at least likes to go out to eat,
that is also a major bonus. I have a thing
for the artistic types though. I like people
with soul and flavor. I am such a character;
I need someone that can keep up with me.
Spontaneity is a huge for me as I love
having little adventures here and there,
going camping, tree climbing, hiking; I’m
a big kid at heart so if you can appeal to
that, you’re golden!
