Harry Potter
It is a british-american film series based on
novels with the same name by the celebrated
author J.K. Rowlings. Four directors have
worked on the films: Chris Columbus,
Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and David
Yates, since the first movie of the series was
released back in 2001. It shows the growing
pains and development of a young wizard and
his friends, while fighting the man that killed
his parents and leaving a connection with him
through a scar on his head. Daniel Radcliffe,
Emma Watson, Ruppert Grint, are among
the leading actors that appears in each one
of the movies. And of course, is the number
one taking money out of our pockets, with
earnings over $7.7 billion worldwide on eight
movies.
Star Wars
The force is strong with this one. Written and directed by
George Lucas, a real especial effects master Jedi. It is the
third on the money list of all time for film series with $4.4
billion on seven movies made. With its characters, Luke
Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Chewbacca, became
an icon for generations to come. We have conferences on its
name, languages and everything that can be commercialized.
The next episode is schedule to be released on December of
2015.
Pirates of the Caribbean
I cannot leave Captain Jack Sparrow off
the list, savvy. Johnny Depp is the life
of this saga of four movies that earned
over $ 3.7 billion all over the world. His
drunk-like movements and phrases that
nobody seems to understand, and that
monkey give us the best of the pirate’s
world. Orlando Bloom left the arch and
arrows from Lord of the Rings behind for
a sword; Keira Knightley made want to be
a pirate, and Geoffrey Rush is as crazy as
they come.
Maybe you disagree with me in some
of them, but the numbers never lie. We
can argue about it for hours: What about
Twilight? Iron Man? Hunger Games?
The answer is simply math, some of these
sagas made less movies and more money
than the ones that are absent of the list.
And then again, it is not the top 100 or a
countdown.
